And the Oscar goes to…
This week we hosted our first annual online Oscars Red Carpet “Happy Hour” with an expert stylist panel, including, Scotty Cunha, William Clark Jr., Patricia Klein, Geraldine Holford and Lori Young. From Margot Robbie’s elegant white Chanel gown to Zendaya’s bronze chiffon dress paired with diamond drop earrings, the stylemakers picked their top Red Carpet looks of the night. We picked our favorite trends that you can be inspired by not only to make a show-stopping statement with, but also apply it to your everyday style.
Here is a list of Patricia Klein’s top Oscars trends:
There was lots of shimmer & shine on the carpet last night. From Jennifer Lawrence, Gal Gadot, Sandra Bullock and Lupita Nyong’o, this metallic trend was hard not to notice. If you do not have a place to wear the over the top metallic gown, but love the trend, pick up the metallic booties of the moment by Annie Bing or whoever you choose that look great paired with ripped jeans. To add extra shimmer and glam, you can add Lemonhead glittery Mullholland or Dirty Penny Space paste from Lemon Drop. This is a fun way to enhance your makeup.
From Nicole Kidman to Kelly Ripa to Saoirse Ronan, the-over-the-top bow was truly a hard trend to miss. If you want to add this touch of femininity to your wardrobe, which is so important in the upcoming spring season, we suggest buying a satin blouse with a built-in oversized bow to achieve a similar effect. For a weekend shopping the dRA Clement jumpsuit is perfect and easy with a bow for style!
Sparkly drop earrings were seen on many stars who were looking to make a statement. Zendaya, Sally Hawkins, Mary J. Blige and Meryl Streep all wore showstoppers. Since Bulgari and Fred Leighton are out of most of our budgets, opt for a costume version and get the same look without the security team or hefty price tag.
Thanks to Sofia Carson, Allison Janney and Meryl Streep, we are smitten with bright red, which looked super regal on all three. Try buying one of the many intense and bold red matte lipsticks or Mighty Karma nail polish by Basecoat to get a dose of this eye-popping shade.
Margot Robbie, Jane Fonda, Mary J. Blige and Laura Dern all wore a pristine shade of white in very sleek & modern silhouettes. We are thinking a crisp and white trench coat is just what the Dr. ordered to get a taste of the white trend in a classic staple. For a clean contemporary look for work or a date, the Ripley Rader wide leg pant and short sleeve crop top are on point.
Some of the most feminine and pretty dresses appeared on the carpet in a neutral, soft pale champagne like color. Gina Rodriquez, Elisabeth Moss, Mira Sorvino and Allison Williams all got the memo to keep it light, airy and pretty. A pretty and intricate evening clutch with appliques could be the perfect way to touch on this trend for evenings out. A simple manicure with Peony nailpolish by Basecoat and the dRA Clothing Meryl top is a look you can take anywhere.
With these styles, you can integrate the glam and glitz of the Oscars into your everyday life. Make sure you check out our Style Station website to shop the trends and become inspired by our celebrity looks.
